Now, we have news about when the second game in this trilogy will release.įuga: Melodies of Steel 2 will launch in 2023 according to a new announcement in a recent event. The game released on every platform and did not sell very well, but the publisher announced a trilogy shortly after. One such game which came out last year was Fuga: Melodies of Steel.ĬyberConnect2 published and developed Fuga: Melodies of Steel as a part of their Little Tail Bronx series. It is widely popular in Japan and the country releases dozens of new games in this genre every year. Such RPGs combine traditional role playing elements with those of strategy games. But, there is another niche of this very popular genre called tactical RPGs. We see so many of these games from AAA developers and they sell in huge numbers, Elden Ring for one. The story about the perils of revenge isn't exactly a novel concept, but I respect the characters and the developers enough to approach the story as it is, blatant sequel hooks aside. One of the most popular genres of gaming on this plane is role-playing games. Or, you can spend six intermission action points to pray to the Soul Cannon and disable the automatic selection outright, which is convenient. In Fuga 2, the Soul Cannon will automatically select a child to be harvested if the tank HP drops below a certain benchmark, and your only options are to either defeat the boss in a set number of turns or use the Managarm, an alternate weapon that merely knocks out of the children instead of killing them outright. In Fuga 1, the Soul Cannon was an optional resource to use for overcoming a difficult boss fight: When the tank HP drops below half, you can choose to instantly vaporize the boss by sacrificing one of the children to the Soul Cannon. Story is somewhat like the original game in terms of the morality and hardships of war, while the gameplay mechanics have been expanded somewhat while still maintaining the core loop of switching child soldiers in battle, delaying enemy attacks with machine gun/grenade launcher/cannon match-ups while raising affinity, upgrading the giant tank and doing farming chores and resource expeditions during intermissions. It's a fun JRPG experience that serves as a solid follow-up to the iconic Fuga: Melodies of Steel.
